Corona Treatment

« Back to Glossary Index

Corona treatment is a surface modification process that uses a high-frequency electrical discharge to increase the surface energy of plastic or film materials. This enhances ink, coating, or adhesive bonding. In packaging and label printing, corona treatment is especially useful for non-porous surfaces like polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene, making them more receptive to silk screen inks or pressure-sensitive labels. It’s a common alternative to flaming when prepping containers for decoration.
